This is the Whitmer farm.

Joseph Smith and Emma came to live here

and Joseph finished translating the Book of Mormon here.

This is the home where the church was organized.

  

They left Palmyra because of persecution and settled in Kirtland.

Many people were baptized here

including the Whitney's. 

The Smith family lived in the upper floors of the store for a time.

This is where it all began.

Joseph Smith walked out this door and into the grove of trees behind his house.

The rest is history.

 This is in the house that Alvin Smith built for the family.

They moved here after he died and lived here until they

moved back to the original house because they could not make the payment.

It is about 50 yards from the original house.

The brick hearth is where the plates were hidden

when the mobs came.

 The farm land they cleared and planted.
